The Confluence is the jewel crafting altar in the Lower Pit, where the five rivers of the cavern meet. It is the only place the pit's jewel crafting items can be used. It sleeps until the seal over the pit breaks.

There are 5 jewel crafting items. They drop from Erebus Guards in the ring, the lower pit elites and Erebus, the Unlit. Two of them drop only from Erebus. What each one does is written on the item.

Using the altar

  1. Right-click the Confluence to open its menu.
  2. Click a cut jewel in your inventory to put it on the altar, then click a crafting item to put one on the altar beside it. Click either slot to take it back.
  3. Press Begin the ritual. The item is used up and the ritual plays out at the altar.
  4. When the ritual ends, your jewel comes back to you.

Rules:

  • The jewel has to be a cut, unsocketed jewel. Mystery Jewels must be cut open first, and unique jewels can't be crafted.
  • One jewel at a time.
  • One player can use the altar at a time. Only you can take your jewel back, and not while a ritual is running.
  • A jewel left on the altar with no ritual for 60 seconds comes back to you.
  • Rituals are announced only by a beam and a sound at the altar. Nothing goes to chat.

The 8-block rule

Stay within 8 blocks of the altar until the ritual ends. Leaving that range, dying, logging out or changing world breaks the ritual. A broken ritual uses up the item and leaves your jewel as it was.

Getting hit doesn't break a ritual.

Some rituals call up Erebus mages, or give you a task to finish in a time limit. If the time runs out, the ritual breaks and the item is used up, but your jewel stays on the altar so you can try again. Monsters raised by a ritual drop nothing and don't count for quests, clues, the season pass or Erebus's wake bar.

Risks

A jewel on the altar is not safe. The lower pit is a PvP area like the rest of the pit.

  • If you die, the jewel and item on the altar drop with the rest of your items.
  • If you log out while combat-tagged, they drop where you stood.
  • Any other logout sends them to your /stash.

Some results can leave a jewel worse than before, or destroy it. Read the item before you pour it.

Other ways to change a jewel

The Reforging Sigil and the Truing Stone work anywhere, not only at the altar. See Jewels.
