Armour Trims & Sets

Trims are rare drag-on upgrades for armour: one trim per piece, each with its own look and its own bonuses. Drop a trim onto a piece of gear and it gains whatever that trim grants (PvP damage, damage reduction, mining and loot perks), all spelled out on the trim item before you apply it. Wear the same trim on all four pieces and you also get that set's full-set ability.

Changed your mind? A Trim Remover (itself a rare drop) takes a trim off a piece and hands it back to you. You can also apply a new trim straight over an old one after a quick chat confirm, but the trim you replace is gone for good.

Where trims drop

Atlas is the odd one out in how it drops. No loot table rolls it. It falls straight out of the ground while you mine a meteorite shower, the one event its bonuses are built for. The matching Atlas Pickaxe Trim comes off the same blocks, more rarely.

Notable trim bonuses

• Spectral. The early PvE set. Its damage reduction applies to PvE only, and its full-set ability Soul Siphon heals you and stacks a short PvE damage buff each time you kill a shade, wraith or Erebus Guard.
• Nyx's Shroud. The PvP set, with the full-set ability Rift Wound: your hits bank damage on a target, and the wound bursts for 20% of what was banked. It banks from your swings and wand or bow shots after your damage bonuses and crits. See Nyx's Shroud.
• Olympian. The KOTH jackpot trim. Its full-set ability Zeus's Wrath calls down lightning on nearby shades, wraiths and Erebus Guards, 50 damage each.
• Raider. Built for cell raiding: a full Raider set takes 25% less damage from cell guards.
• Broodborn. The Momentum mining set. See Broodborn.
• Thanatos and Hephaestus. Their full-set abilities only build from melee swings. Wands, bows and enchant procs don't count.

Trims on PvE content

• The PvE damage reduction on Spectral, Olympian and Skipstone works against shades and wraiths, and defensive trims work against cell Frost Mages and Lightning Mages.
• The Spectral and Skipstone set bonuses work on Erebus Pit guards as well as shades and wraiths.
• Rift Wound bursts on shades, wraiths and Erebus Guards. On bosses and players a burst deals its share of the banked damage.
• Trims with a proc chance bonus also boost Bleed, Rupture, Earthsplitter, Perfect Strike, Molecular Harvester and Rejuvenate.

The Skipstone set

Skipstone is the wand set. The full set grants:

• 12% more wand damage (PvE)
• 8% reduced PvE damage taken

The set does nothing in PvP. Completing all four pieces unlocks two extras: the Skipstone wand trim's beam ricochet, and the set's own ability Skipping Stone. When a wand beam kills, the beam skips on to the next enemy for half that beam's damage, and a skip that kills a shade can skip again.

Trims change how a piece performs, not how it looks beyond the trim's own pattern. For visual flair, see Cosmetics. Armour bonuses stack with whatever you carry in your offhand, so plan the two together.

The /trims catalog

Run /trims to browse every trim in the game, what it does and where it comes from. The catalog has tabs for Armour, Pickaxe, Weapon, Wand and Bow. Pickaxe, weapon, wand and bow trims are covered in Weapon, Wand & Bow Trims and Trims. /trims is a drawn window and needs the server resource pack. Without it, it shows the plain chest layout.

Stat lines follow the server-wide wording rule: increased bonuses sum with your other increased sources, more bonuses multiply on top.

When a player is the first to apply a given trim, the server-wide announcement points everyone to /trims.

• Rift Wound bursts from a full Nyx's Shroud set now deal 20% of the banked damage, down from 30%. Wounds bank each hit after your damage bonuses and crits, and only from your swings and wand or bow shots.
