Hephaestus

The tyrant of the forge, a brute fueled by molten fury. Hephaestus is rated Very Hard, the hardest of the normal bosses, a clear step above Thanatos, with 25,000 health. Only the Uber bosses sit above him. Bring your best gear.

Summoning

  • Key: Hephaestus' Sigil, forged from 96 Essence of Hephaestus, which only the top Polis levels carry (mainly 102 and 103). Sigils also come out of Mystery Boss Keys. There is no shop that sells them.
  • Requirement: Community Fund tier IV, the only gate.
  • Summon at his altar. See Summoning a Boss.
  • His altar also takes Hephaestus' Unquenched Brand, the separate uber key that calls Uber Hephaestus from Fund tier V.

The fight

Hephaestus has a new fight for Map 4, fought alone in his own arena. He pierces 20% of your armour, and during his big moves he takes 90% less damage rather than going immune. He regenerates when left alone, can't be slowed and can't be stun-locked, so keep the pressure steady. See Boss Fight Mechanics for the fundamentals. Die and you respawn at his altar. The rest is for you to figure out on the arena floor.

Drops

The richest boss table on the server, all of it to the summoner. See Boss Loot & Drop Announcements.

Expect Netherite Scrap, crafting and enchanting materials, the Powerball IV exceptional orb, Mystery Godly Enchant Orbs, boosters, the Smoldering Lodestone, the Enchant Catalyst (he is now its only source) and a chance at his signature Hephaestus's Spark offhand (tiers I to III, each rarer than the last). His armour trim is among the rarest finds in Tartarus.

He is also the only source of the Hephaestus weapon trim, which pairs with his armour set and carries a set ability of its own, Forgeheat. It is rarer than the armour trim.

Killing him pays the summoner 8,000 Hunter XP. Chasing the trim? Track it on the RNG Meter. Or step up to Uber Hephaestus, the only source of the Emberflow Aetheric jewel.

  • Hephaestus has a new fight and 25,000 health, with no hidden damage reduction. He pierces 20% of your armour.
  • He takes 90% less damage during his big moves instead of going immune.
  • His trim is 1.5x rarer, the Smoldering Lodestone 5x rarer, and Spark offhand tier I 10x, tier II 7x and tier III 5x rarer.
  • He no longer drops GKit beacons or Mining Bots, the Enchant Catalyst now only drops from him, and he drops 1 Netherite Scrap at a time, down from 1 to 3.
  • Motes of the Ancients became Enchant Dust.
  • Kills pay 8,000 Hunter XP, down from 10,000 Hunter Points. His key takes 96 essence and can no longer be bought.

  • Hephaestus now unlocks at Community Fund tier IV, one tier earlier than before, and the Prestige II / Level 102 requirement is gone.
  • He drops the new Hephaestus weapon trim, which pairs with the Hephaestus armour set and has a set ability of its own, Forgeheat.
  • His abilities no longer lose most of their damage to armour.
  • Dying to him now respawns you at his altar instead of at spawn.
  • Added Uber Hephaestus, summoned at the same altar with Hephaestus' Unquenched Brand from Fund tier V.

  • Summon now requires Player Prestige II and Level 102, replacing the old Hunter T8 gate.
  • Fixed a visual bug that could give away his position during one of his phases.
  • He no longer drops Condensed Crude Ore, and his loot was refreshed and made more rewarding.
  • He now slowly regenerates when left alone, can't be slowed, and can no longer be stun-locked by rapid fire.
