The Lower Pit

Propose an edit History

The Lower Pit is the great cavern under the Pit of Erebus. It holds 25 named elites, the Confluence jewel crafting altar and Erebus, the Unlit. It is the pit's endgame.

Breaking the seal

The shaft in the centre of the pit is sealed at the start of every map.

  • Every ring guard a player kills in the pit above counts toward breaking it.
  • At 25,000 kills the seal breaks for the whole server, with an announcement to everyone online. It stays open for the rest of the map.
  • The seal shows the live count and cracks further as it gets closer.

Until the seal breaks there are no elites, Erebus does not stir, and the Confluence won't take a jewel. Ring kills don't fill Erebus's wake bar while the seal holds.

Going down

Walk onto the open centre of the pit and drop down the shaft. A tunnel at the bottom leads north into the cavern.

  • Level 102+ is strongly recommended. A warning sign hangs over the drop, and you get a warning title if you walk onto it below that level.
  • There is no way back up. Leave with /spawn or a warp.
  • The Lower Pit is part of the pit, so it follows the same rules: PvP everywhere, no deathban, and a death drops only what you picked up since you entered the pit. See Death & Item Loss.

The elites

Five rivers run through the cavern into the Confluence, and each ends at its own spring. A watch of 5 named elites guards each spring, 25 in all. They are Lampads, Erinyes and Harpies.

  • Each elite has 1,600 health.
  • An elite comes back 45 seconds after it dies.

Elite drops

Each elite kill rolls the lower pit's loot table once. Most kills drop nothing. It can drop:

  • Jewel crafting items for the Confluence. Each watch drops more of one crafting item than the others.
  • Tier II of the pit's new offhand, stronger than the tier I from the ring guards.
  • A new pet, rolled separately from the table.

Elite kills count for pit quests, the season pass, clue scroll steps and the /daily Erebus kill bonus. Each elite kill also adds 5 to the bar that wakes Erebus, the Unlit.

Two new unique jewels are hidden in the lower pit's loot. This wiki won't say what or where.
