Avatars

An Avatar is a smaller copy of one of the four uber bosses, raised at the Netherite Shrine on the Sacred Way. Killing one is how you earn uber fragments, and 5 fragments forge an uber key.

Raising one

  • Go to the Netherite Shrine in the Dark Reach and right-click the altar at its centre.
  • Pick an Avatar: Lamia, Echidna, Thanatos or Hephaestus.
  • It costs 100 Ichor, taken from your bag. Banked Ichor has to be taken out of the vault first.
  • You can only have one Avatar or one waiting offering at a time.

If its lair is free, a crack opens in the shrine floor. Step into it within 30 seconds and you drop into the lair. The fall can't hurt you.

The lairs

Each Avatar fights in its own lair under the island.

Avatar Lair
Lamia the Petrified Grotto
Echidna the Brood Nest
Thanatos the Candle Crypt
Hephaestus the Forge of the Deep

When the fight ends, a crack opens where the Avatar fell. Step into it to go back up to the shrine. After 45 seconds it carries everyone still in the lair up, and the looter gets anything left on the floor.

The queue

Only one fight runs in each lair at a time. If someone is already fighting the Avatar you picked, your offering waits in line and you can keep farming.

  • When it's your turn the shrine calls you, and you have 90 seconds to come back and step into the crack.
  • A waiting offering goes back to your vault (not your bag) if you log out, leave the Sacred Way or miss your turn.

Health and who can hit it

  • Every Avatar has 50,000 health.
  • Only the player who raised it can hurt it.
  • It heals slowly if nobody hits it for a while.
  • A fight that runs longer than 10 minutes ends: the Avatar despawns with no drop.

The 30-second claim rule

The fight opens up to everyone if the summoner:

  • dies,
  • logs out or leaves the Sacred Way, or
  • walks more than 48 blocks away for 20 seconds.

For the next 30 seconds anyone can hurt the Avatar, and the crack at the shrine opens so other players can drop in. Whoever lands the killing blow claims it. If nobody finishes it in time, it despawns with no drop.

Rewards

  • 1 fragment of that uber, straight into the looter's bag.
  • Each Avatar has a rare hidden enchant in its loot.
  • 5,000 Hunter XP (base) for the looter. If someone else claimed your Avatar, you still get the Hunter XP as its summoner.

Fragments are carried haul. If you die south of the first neck they drop, so walk them back to the meadow to bank them.

Creatures an Avatar raises during its fight pay no Ichor.

Forging keys

At the Pavilion Vault (the barrel on the north wall of the arrival pavilion, in the North Meadows):

  • 5 banked fragments of one uber forge that uber's key.
  • The vault shows how many of each you have.
  • You can also take fragments out to trade. Fragments and forged keys trade like any other item, and fragments bought from someone else can be banked and forged.
Fragments Key Summons
5 Lamia Lamia's Weeping Mirror Uber Lamia
5 Echidna Echidna's Brood Knot Uber Echidna
5 Thanatos Thanatos' Unpaid Toll Uber Thanatos
5 Hephaestus Hephaestus' Unquenched Brand Uber Hephaestus

See Uber Bosses for what the key summons.
