Thunderhead

Thunderhead is a Proc Manipulation path perk for pickaxe prestige. Mining a meteorite can call a storm that drops lightning on every meteorite around you, yours included.

At a glance

Path Proc Manipulation
Roll 11 to 16 lightning bolts per storm
Slots Any perk slot (P1, P5, P10)
Base chance 2.5% per swing on a meteorite, raised by increased proc chance
Reach Every landed meteorite within 40 blocks, plus the one you are mining

How it works

Each swing at a landed meteorite has a chance to start a storm. The storm picks its targets once, when it starts: every landed meteorite within 40 blocks (up to 32 of them) and the rock under your pickaxe.

It then drops your rolled number of bolts across those meteorites, about ten a second, so a 16-bolt storm lasts around a second and a half. Each bolt pays you a full swing of ore and Ancient Energy from the rock it hits, at that rock's own tier.

The chance runs through the same increased proc pool as your mining enchants, so Global Proc Chance, Amplified Odds, trims and jewels all make storms more common. There is no cooldown, and storms can overlap.

Notes

  • Keep the pickaxe in hand. The storm belongs to the pickaxe that rolled it.
  • A bolt can never take a meteorite's last ore. The finish always belongs to whoever mines it.
  • Each bolt counts toward the Meteorite Hunter daily limit as it lands.
  • Bolts do not count toward your pickaxe prestige block requirement, which counts your own swings.
  • Thunderhead works in the open meteorite field as well as in a shower. A shower gives it more rocks to hit.
