Bound Shade
The Bound Shade is a companion offhand in three tiers, found only in Erebus Crates.
Equip one with /offhand and a shade forms beside you holding your weapon. It attacks enemies near it on its own, at your weapon's pace: it shoots with a wand or bow and strikes up close with anything else. You don't aim it or command it.
Damage
Each hit is a share of your own hit. The share rolls per item, so two Bound Shades of the same tier can differ. Check your roll in /offhand.
| Tier | Share of your hit |
|---|---|
| I | 6 to 10% |
| II | 12 to 16% |
| III | 18 to 22% |
What to know before you rely on it
- Hostile mobs only. It never touches another player, so it does nothing in a duel or any PvP fight. It works on shades and wraiths, bosses and other monsters.
- Its hits don't set off your 'of the Whirlwind' splash, and they don't spend Deathbringer or Riposte.
- It can be killed. It reforms after 30 seconds.
- It blinks back to you if it drifts too far, so it won't get left behind when you warp or outrun it.
Getting the tiers
Each tier only drops from the tear tiers it belongs to, and a higher tear never pays a lower tier. Tier I comes from tier III and IV tears, Tier II from tier V and VI, and Tier III from tier VII and VIII. Once a tier's window on the level-cap ladder closes, that tier is gone for the season.
Missing a lower tier doesn't block a higher one. Offhand tiers claim in any order, and the picker always equips the highest tier you own. There is no way to upgrade one: the /offhand tinker upgrade was removed in Map 4.
